Where I Was Once Blind, Now I Can See
I have always had a certain frustration with in-depth tutorials and wiki across the web that try and teach a reader the various ins and outs of a technical topic.
“This document speaks in relative terms or has too long of an introduction to try and help me understand it!”
Even worse were the tutorials that had a section on “common language.” It was simply too much for me when a document needed to specify what meant what in what context before I began to read it. Like the learning curve on topics that need these tutorials aren’t complex enough…
Having been steeped in theming content management system MovableType for the past couple of weeks, I now have a newfound respect for such document writers. Not because I’ve been using one to work with MovableType (since just the opposite is true, actually), but because I have been trying to use similar technicals writings along the way to keep involved parties updated.
It’s no small task to explain the intricate structure and workings of a system that is based on notional coding.
Like right there, what the hell is notional coding, even? Ugh. You see what I mean..?
